Captains Log 2/23/2010 10:04 Supplementary. (LOL, i said log). - Captain Vekk
The USS Night Raven destroyed several Klingon Birds of Prey in a deep space battle in Sirius Sector.
After the battle I was able to requisition a new Mark II Proton Torpedo system that gives the Night Raven increased damage capabilities.
Additionally, Star Fleet asked me if I would be willing to take on a new Tactical Officer named B'Edor. I was hesitant at first since she was a
Klingon, however after checking with Star Fleet Security, I was able to validate that she passed all security clearances. I am hoping that she will
serve with honor.
Star Fleet promoted me to Lieutenant Grade 8.
In the next few days I will try to contact Captain Ferran and ask for admittance to the 42nd Irregulars fleet.

In my vast experience of gaming I have come to one simple and proven test of the quality of a game. Character slots = Stars I.E - 3 slots = 3 stars = crap game 8 slots = 8 stars = uber game. Just as well... Kilam = uber

What types of ships are people playing? There is what, a dps, tank, and support one right?

Is the game really worth playing? Is it a typical get quest, go to point A, kill 5 X's, return to quest giver. Rinse and repeat? Does the game have a "space" feel? Can you maneuver your ship in space battles FPS style or is it more strategical/tactical? Is Micheal Jackson REALLY dead?

STO combat is two parts. 1. space 2. away team(land combat). the combat mechanics are quite a bit more involved than any MMO's I've played. You have to manage ship shields, ship power levels, and also maneuver for position. You also have to train your bridge officers for skills that you can use in combat. It is tactical and strategic but not overly so where you have to plan perfectly. But its not like a dog fight shooter either. It is tab targeting based.
Your away team follow you around like pets do in other MMO's but you can actually set rally points for your away team so you can setup ambushes and take advantage of flanking damage on away team missions.
Some quest examples:
1 sector exploration: visit 4 systems and when you warp into a system then you do a quest in that system to get credit for exploring it. The system quest will be of various types, patrol and clear klingons or gorn or some other enemies. defend a space station, or do these with an added side quest of beaming down to rescue federation hostages, or to secure a land base or to escort an ambassador.
you may get a quest to do the sub quests also with out the sector exploration. So far I haven't noticed any quests find X number types of quests. Like retrieve 5 left testicles of klingon swordsmen.

The USS Equinox at the command of Lt. Gilis has been patrolling the Sol system with great success. I hope to soon meet up with Captain Vekk and Ferren and join the 42nd irregulars.
